Lynette Edeline Malianga
A Tribute to The African Violet
Lynette, my wife, was a Health Visitor based in Chelmsford. She called herself the African Violet and her colleagues did so affectionately. On many occasions in the street or supermarket she would be stopped and greeted by some mother she had attended to. Some of the children she attended to are now teenagers. That always struck me as someone who had done a pretty good job if parents still appreciated what she had done.
Lynette also helped run a Toddler Group on Tuesdays at her beloved North Springfield Baptist Church. The Toddlers and Moms there also appreciated what she did with a smile on her face.
Lynette passed away on 19th October 2023 after two years of fighting Cancer. Her journey through this was made bearable and easier with the assistance of the Chelmsford Farleighs Hospice, who have been providing this service to Chelmsford for a long time.
After the passing of my wife Lynette comfort for me came from being in the familiar surroundings of a Recording Studio. The coolness, the smell, the atmosphere, and being in the company of great Musicians.
It was there where I recorded my feelings and memories of the journey I had taken with Lynette for over 60 good years. This took place at a local Recording Studio called Highfield Studio owned by a friend Elliott Richardson. Together with my other Music Friends we recorded tracks for the Album THA STORY which is now available on digital and on a CD.
To show my appreciation and gratitude for what Chelmsford Farleighs Hospice did for my family, proceeds from the sales of the THA STORY CD will go to the Fairleighs Hospice Fundraiser “Tribute to the African Violet” Muchloved Campaign. You can use the link below to donate.
